Come and see our magnificent Youth and Community Hub
For years, this old building had sat derelict and slowly falling apart. We worked hard to raise the millions needed to turn it into a place that could better serve the community. In 2024, we finally opened the doors!
The 130-year-old Church building and adjoining tenement have been transformed into an innovative, multi- functional and flexible space for young people, including 7 flats.
The Development
Bringing an old Church back to life
Repairing and bringing back into use two vacant and derelict buildings located within the Conservation Area of Central Perth was no easy task! Despite that, we involved young people at every stage of the 5-year development including.
From consultations and design workshops to a construction and stained-glass restoration work. Young people played a part in bringing this project to life.
The Finished Product
An environmentally sustainable heritage achievement!
The New Y Centre blends modern, innovative design with the careful preservation of the building’s historic character. By reimagining this important heritage site for future generations, it creates a vibrant, welcoming, and eco-conscious space where young people, families, and the wider community can connect, grow, and thrive together in an inspiring and sustainable environment.
