At the start of Lockdown I looked into some online training I could do with my free time at home. After a conversation with another staff member that had been doing life coaching and counselling courses, I looked into some counselling courses and was sent one that I began working on.

Working on this course brought back the burning desire I had many years ago about doing counselling to help others in need, similar to the help I got when I needed it most. I began looking at other courses I could do online and found a Study at Home course at Perth College for counselling. After filling out the application I was worried about sending it, however I decided I would send it off and see what happens. Over Lockdown applications took longer to be processed, after a number of weeks I received an email offering me an interview through video call.

MY interview day came and to say I was nervous was an understatement, there was myself and 2 college staff members who asked me a few questions and gave me a lot of helpful information. Two days later I received another email to offer me a place on the course, I was overjoyed! Without the chats I had with various staff over this past year I’m unsure if I would have ever followed through with this or not. I am very much looking forward to the course starting and being able to use this in my work going forward.
